Cans for Christmas was established in 2015 as a community building project between the Catholic Schools around New Zealand to donate canned food to their local St Vincent de Paul or Foodbank.

Cans for Christmas has grown to include 47 schools (Catholic and non Catholic) in 2020 and raised over $10,000 for SVDP due to Covid-19 restrictions.
